Private courier services are salivating at all the business they’re getting because of the Canada Post lockout.

The industry has noted an increase in sales during the 10-day conflict. The beneficiaries include Purolator Quebec/Atlantic, a subsidiary of Canada Post itself.

“Our delivery volumes increased by 16% across the country,” said Purolator general manager Denis Roch, whose company is nearly 90% owned by the Crown corporation.

  1. I no longer live in Canada but here in Tenessee we are experiencing something similar. It seems the public sector is being cut and the union workers are the ones to suffer. 🙁

  2. I may not be a big fan of CanPost but their value is important. Without them we wouldn’t be able to get mail in the most rural of areas that people like Purolator and UPS do not deliver to.

  3. This is going to be a loooonnnng strike. I dont see things getting back to normal any time soon. At least until christmas.

  4. Yea you just know that people like Purolator and others are loving the lock out. If they and the conservatives had their way the Canada Post would shut down entirely.

  5. No private delivery can come close to the staggering consistency in mail delivery of cp. Hang in their guys. You are doing the right thing.

  6. Parliament the other day said they will be making this the highest priority to get this back on track in a week or two.

  8. I work for the CP and this has been a serious problem for months now and now they have gone ahead and shut down hoping to put pressure on us

  9. Ive pretty much given up entirely on Canada Post and do all my business with FedEx.
